He graduated from the Dnipropetrovsk State Medical Academy in 1984 with a degree in General Medicine.

From 1985 to 2008 worked as an ophthalmologist, then head of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Ophthalmological Center.

The main areas of work in that period:

  1. Diagnosis and treatment of severe inflammatory eye diseases, particularly ocular tuberculosis.
  2. Development and implementation of new methods for diagnosing and treating severe inflammatory diseases of the choroid and cornea.
  3. Development and introduction of new diagnosing and treating severe corneal diseases of various etiologies methods.
  4. Preparation of patients for various types of keratoplasty and postoperative rehabilitation of these patients. 5. Treatment of severe chemical and thermal eye burns.
  5. Surgical cosmetic rehabilitation of patients with an ophthalmic syndrome and prevention of the development of this syndrome in patients who, for medical reasons, need to remove the eye using implantation, in particular, using the implantation of an insert – an orbital implant.
  6. Together with neurosurgeons and maxillofacial surgeons of the Mechnikov Regional Clinical Hospital, an algorithm for staged surgical treatment and medical rehabilitation of patients with secondary lagophthalmos against the background of facial nerve paresis of various etiologies was developed.
